“I let it hold me back from scheduling a session for quite awhile” | Client Interview Monday | Orange County Boudoir Photographer

Samantha-52

  1. How old are you?

24 years young

  1. What do you do for a living?

I am a trainer and customer support technician for an agriculture accounting software.

  1. What made you decide to take a leap of faith and do a boudoir session?

I had been invited to her VIP Facebook group and loved her photos. After seeing so many happy clients rave about their sessions, I just had to do one for myself!! From the second i emailed Alyssa, I knew I had made the right choice!

Samantha-2

  1. Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

I can give you a long list of insecurities and I have always struggled with seeing myself as “sexy.” I was so afraid that I would look so silly trying to pull it off! I let it hold me back from scheduling a session for quite awhile.

  1. Was the session different from what you expected it to be?

I knew it was going to be fun, but I had no idea just how much fun it would be! From the second I walked through the door, It was like a dream!

  1. What was your favorite part about the entire experience?

If I had to pick a favorite, the shoot itself was such a blast. Alyssa is so positive and absolutely hilarious! I definitely had moments where I couldn’t do “the lips” because I was laughing so hard!

Samantha-13

  1. How did you feel when you saw your photographs?

I died! I seriously could not believe that it was me on the screen. I sat with my mouth covered through practically my whole slideshow! I was absolutely blown away! I am dying to get my heirloom box!!

  1. Any advice for women interested in their own boudoir session?

Take a deep breathe, admit to yourself that you are insanely beautiful (inside & out) and then book your session. You will always find an excuse or reason not to, but you just have to go for it and I promise you that you will not regret it.

Samantha-45

  1. Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of the session?

Without a doubt! I feel a lot more confident and even feel some love for things I once saw as major flaws.

  1. How did you like working with Alyssa Michelle and her team?

Like is such an understatement! I LOVED working with her and her team. They will genuinely make you feel like a million bucks from the second you walk through the door. They are so honest and welcoming! Alyssa made the whole experience so incredible and her personality is infectious!

XOXO

Five things that you probably don’t know about me | Orange County Boudoir Photographer

There is not much that the world doesn’t know about me, since I’m truly an open book and express myself through allowing people to know me whole-heartedly.

BUT I think that there are a few things I can come up with that you may actually not know! 😉

  1. Fall is my absolutely favorite season. I really hate warm weather, I love when it’s cold, and I love to just snuggle and watch a movie with my boyfriend Killian. Halloween is my favorite holiday (it’s got to be! I was born two days after!) I love horror movies, hot chocolate, and boots. But most of all, I love that it brings love, family, and togetherness.
  2. I have one younger sister, Amy. She is my best friend, my biggest supporter, and snuggler on Christmas Eve, and my go to girl 😉 She is an amazing artist, chef, and anime watcher/ game player! She is going to do great things in her lifetime, and I can’t wait to just sit back and watch her shine.
  3. I absolutely HATE the rain. I’m like a cat, and it’s horrible. I hate gloomy days, they make me sad and depressed, I need sunshine in my life!
  4. I’m in LOVE with my Keurig Columbian coffee, I drink at least 3 cups in the morning!
  5. I recently started my workout journey, and my biggest downfall is by far food. But I’m getting there!

It was really hard to come up with 5 things you may not have known about me, but one other thing, which is blatantly obvious it that I LOVE my job. I love making women see their true beauty, and I get asked all of the time what I do outside of work… the answer? I’m always working. My boyfriend like to tease me saying that even in bed at night, falling asleep, I’m thinking about how to improve my business, and that’s probably why I ever sleep through the night! <3

XOXO

Amanda - You are the cutest! I love fall and winter wardrobes! And now I’m going to make hot chocolate in my Keurig before I start homework. Haha. You made it sound really good!
P.S. Yay for your awesome relationship with your sister! If she’s anything like you, she’ll kick ass in life for sure!

Paige - Alyssa, this is so cute. I love getting to know who you are. You seem like such an amazing person and friend, and you are so inspirational with your work and SUPER talented. I cannot wait to get a shoot with you one day.

ChrystIna Tenney - I loved those things. There’s nothing like learning new things about a person you’re about to meet! I know what it’s like to struggle with nutrition, I’m a fitness coach and deal with that all the time. If you ever need advice I’m always here!!
I love how close you are with your sister, and I have to say I HATE horror movies but also LOVE fall…after all I got married in fall and had a baby in fall! 🙂

Sarah - Love this post! I also love the fact that you are SO real! Thanks for being so open and inviting to all of us wanting to learn! ☺️

“My shoot brought tears of joy and accomplishment to my eyes” | Client Interview Monday | Orange County Boudoir Photographer

Tiffany-3
1.  How old are you? I’m 24 years old

2. What do you do for a living? I am a pharmacy technician and a single mother.

3. What made you decide to take a leap of faith and do a boudoir session? I got invited to join her group on Facebook and I was looking through all the pictures she added and I was in complete awe. All the women looked beautiful and looked so comfortable in their own skin. I wanted to feel like that so I took the chance and e-mailed Alyssa. Plus she posted a cute picture of a woman in a tutu that made me want to do it even more!

4. Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir? Oh yes TONS! I was really nervous and scared to do a boudoir session with her because I did not like the way my body looked at all. I did a lot of damage over the years to my body that I regret doing and I dont have a flat/toned stomach or any part of my body toned at all so I was afraid that they would show in my photos and it wouldnt look flattering at all.
Tiffany-128
5. Was the session different from what you expected it to be? Oh my goodness YES!!! I was expecting it to be really uncomfortable in her studio and I was expecting myself to be really awkward. But as soon as I got their I was welcomed so warmly by Alyssa and her team. When we started taking pictures my body was so loose and free that it took ever direction that Alyssa wanted it so easily. She is so easy to talk to and she truly makes it feel like you have known her for years on years!!

6. What was your favorite part about the entire experience? Like I could pick a part! Everything was amazing from getting my make-up done and my “mermaid” like hair done, to all the laughs during my shoot all the way to my viewing/ordering day (which was amazing by the way). The whole experience was my favorite and I felt like I was on cloud 9

7. How did you feel when you saw your photographs? I literally could not stop smiling!! Oh my gosh my smile was glued to my face. You could easily mistake me for either just getting botox or to looking like the joker by my facial expression 😆 I was completely shocked by how they turned out and by how I looked. I didnt recognize myself at all and it was bringing tears of joy and accomplishment to my eyes. I never saw myself like that nor did I ever think I could look like that either in a million years.
Tiffany-103
8. Any advice for women interested in their own boudoir session? What’s that one famous quote by Nike…oh yeah JUST DO IT! ✔ Throw out all your insecurities and all your negativity out the window and get up and take some damn beautiful pictures! We are our hardest critics and we put ourselves down all the time because we see all these other beautiful women out in the world via internet, television, magazine, etc showing off their beautifully tanned and/or skinny bodies that our society tells us that that is what’s beautiful and sexy and that that is what they want to see in the world more. Society shouldn’t control your life and make up rules on how you need to live your life. You live your life the way you want to and embrace your body! Every single women out in this world is beautiful and sexy. Doing a shoot like this will show  you exactly how beautiful and sexy you are. Embrace your voluptuous curves, embrace your small/big breasts, embrace every single part of your body and love the way you are built. You built your body because that is what makes you feel comfortable and because that is what makes you who you are. So get out their and show the world who you are and show the world that this is your body  and that this is how your going to look whether they like it or not. Its your opinion that matters the most not anybody else’s.

9. Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of the session? Yes absolutely. I saw myself in a different perspective and saw that the way that I look is beautiful and that I should embody it. I’m not know size 2 and thats okay because seeing myself in those pictures and seeing how happy and sexy I look made me unbelievably proud of the body that I have and proud of myself for taking that challenging leap. I never knew I could be sexy and beautiful in the body that I have if it were for taking these pictures. I feel more comfortable and alive then I ever have before.

10. How did you like working with Alyssa Michelle and her team? It was an amazing experience. Her A-Team was awesome and so welcoming that I definitely would do another shoot with them. All three of these beautiful women truly have a great gift of making all us insecure, nervous and scared women how to feel beautiful and to show us just how beautiful we really are. The vibe they bring into the room is nothing but positive and makes you feel so comfortable and like you are also a part of the team too.

Lingerie Guide | What are my lingerie choices? | Orange County Boudoir Photographer

There are so many different types of lingerie, clothing, colors, types of bras in a women’s closet. How the heck are we supposed to know what fits us JUST right for our body types? We all different, right? It seems impossible! Well I’m here to make your life 10x easier… I’ve created this beautiful lingerie guide for my clients to dress to flatter their body type!

Bra & Panty sets

I think every single one of us can rock a beautiful bra & panty set, trust me. But there are DIFFERENT types of bras that will flatter your shape more than another!

1. The Push up bra

Push-up bras do just that – push up those breasts! This will increase the size of the breasts and give the appearance of more cleavage. It absolutely works well for certain poses, but other poses make it unflattering. Why? Because we are all about proportion. Push up bras tend to be too tight in order to push the girls up, resulting in other things being squeezed that just isn’t flattering! BUT If we pose you correctly, which I know I can, it adds curves in the most beautiful places without squeezing!

makayla facebook-7

2. Demi-cup Bra

This supportive bra style covers only the bottom portion (usually about half) of the breast and offers more cleavage. I definitely prefer these to push-up bras, since you get amazing support and lift while working with what you have naturally. That makes your breasts and proportions much more natural looking.

One thing to be careful with this bra style is nipples being exposed. Since the cup of the bra is not a full coverage cup (only covers part of the breast), your nipples may be partially exposed. (Which truly I have no problem with, I think it’s very sexy if a little nipple is showing!)

Another note: Proper bra size is of the utmost importantance with this style. Make sure the girls fit properly into the cups and are flattered.

erika boudoir-56

3. The Underwire Bra –

Great for women of any breast size, it is a supportive bra with a wire sewn into the bottom portion of the cups for added support.

Carolyn-66

4. The Strapless Bra –

A bra without the straps. Definitely works well with smaller-chested women! But for someone like me who’s chesty it doesn’t have any support and sags our girls!

Rachel-64

5. T-shirt Bras –

These bras are typically made with a smoother exterior and minimal embellishment that allows for a smooth appearance under T-shirts or clinging clothing. I like these much better than bralettes!

6. Bralettes –

These do NOTHING for your girls. You see no cleavage, not sex appeal, nothing. It’s comfortable, yes, but definitely not the most flattering!

Undies

1. Bikini’s –

A bikini is a type of panty that sits on the hip and fully covers the front and rear. They are good for clients who are concerned about coverage!

2. Thong. G-string. –

You know … dental floss. 😉 A thong has minimal fabric in the back. A G-string has even less. Women wear them to avoid VPL (Visible Panty Lines) under clothes! Thick thongs do wonders for women’s booty’s! They are flattering, sexy, and makes for some AMAZING booty shots! G-strings are less flattering, it’s a strange thing to photograph the crack and the string fight for visibility!

Chelsea-122

3. Cheeky Panty/ booty shorts

A popular, trendy style of panty is the cheeky, which shows the bottom of your booty. It offers more coverage than a thong but less coverage than a bikini style. It’s by far the most popular option in my studio and makes for killer booty shots! Even though it is much more coverage than a thong or g-string, this is a great example of how more coverage is often sexier. Leaving a little to the imagination isn’t always a bad thing. 😉

Rachel-109

4. Boyshorts

Boy shorts are designed to sit on the waist and are similar to shorts. If done right, they can be playful and sexy. Don’t expect to get great booty shots with these. They work well with women who want to do something more conservative!

Rachel-163

Corsets & Bustiers

Corsets and bustiers are amazing lingerie options for every woman. They are similar but different. Do you know the difference?

Here it is in a nutshell: Corsets will “cinch,” (the waist) and a bustier will “boost” (the breasts).

1. Corset –

The most popular style of corset is an Overbust corset.

The best corsets are made with steel boning, which is strong enough to take inches off a woman’s waistline, reshaping their figure. The more well-made a corset is, the curvier her hourglass shape will look.

corsetcorset2

2. Bustiers –

They always have a built-in bra. They’re typically shorter than a corset, ending just above or right at the waistline. They’re not meant to cover the hips.

Bustiers usually feel less confining to wear than corsets, since they don’t usually have the same hard boning and cinching effect. They usually contain stretch panels and soft plastic boning.

Chelsea-45

3. Hybrid Styles –

The differences between bustiers and corsets aren’t always so clear these days. Many types of lingerie are a combination of both styles.

A hybrid style of the two looks like a lace-up corset, but the way it’s made is more like a bustier. (It has cups for the breasts) It won’t deliver the waist-cinching ability of a “true” corset but it’s still stylish and very flattering. These are also a lot less expensive than traditional corsets.

Bodysuit / Teddy

A teddy is a garment that covers the torso and crotch in one garment. It is a similar style of garment to a one-piece swimsuit or bodysuit but is typically more sheer and definitely sexier.

Bodysuits are my absolute favorite. They are interesting, complex, flattering, and most of all sexy!

It flatters so many women and are available in so many different styles!

Shape Wear

Shape wear is a type of tight fitting underwear intended to control and shape your figure. I think they are evil for the most part, and really ugly as well!

There is a very select few places that you can find cute shape wear, but they are definitely hidden gems!

Clothing

Boudoir is NOT about lingerie. Boudoir is about the woman, expressing your inner self, finding your sexuality, and connecting with your body and yourself. Boudoir can be anything you want it to be wardrobe wise. If you are more comfortable in jeans and a bra, or even a sweater and panties, then who are they to say nay?

justine-61

Garter Belts

A Garter Belt is a belt worn around the waist or hips with attached garters or fasteners to hold up stockings. Sometimes Garters are built into lingerie so a belt isn’t needed.

The stockings they hold up are called Thigh Highs (because they pull up to the thigh). There are two different types of thigh highs. Some have a rubber material on the inside to help them stay up. This is REALLY important to know. If the stockings have the rubber inside they are NOT meant for garters. They are meant to be worn without them. The rubber allows them to stay up on their own. If you try to pair these stocking with garters, they are very hard to attach because of the thickness of them. Stockings without the rubber are much more desirable for garters. The stockings with the rubber also tend
to be tight on the thighs. This is not flattering for most women – especially if this is an area they are concerned about.

Stockings without
the rubber lay gently on a woman’s thigh, preventing any squishing of the thigh and allowing them to attach to the garter much easier.

Chelsea-78

Babydoll

A babydoll is a short, sleeveless, loose-fitting nightgown. It sometimes has formed cups called a bralette for cleavage with an attached, loose- fitting skirt falling, in length, usually between the upper thigh and
the belly button. Sometimes, it is made of sheer or translucent fabric like nylon or chiffon or silk.

I am not the biggest fan of babydoll, as it normally creates bulk and not in a good way. Sheer babydoll are okay because we can see your body!

Jacquelin-35

 SHOES

The most important accessory.
SHOES. Do NOT forget the higher the heel the better!
Heels add length, proper posture, and create interest in poses and in the camera!

“Words cannot describe the way I felt when I saw myself in my photos” | Client Interview Monday| Orange County Boudoir Photographer

Chelsea-13
1.  How old are you? I am nineteen years old.

2. What do you do for a living? I am a cast member at the Disneyland Resort.

3. What made you decide to take a leap of faith and do a boudoir session? I had been wanting to do one ever since I saw an old friend of mine post photos from her boudoir session with a different photographer. After several months of looking for legitimate photographers, finding Alyssa, and secretly stalking her Instagram, I decided to reach out and try it!

4. Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir? I am not self-conscious about my body, but I have never done a boudoir photography session and like most women there are a few parts of my body that I wish looked a certain way. So I was worried about the way I would look on camera and in my photos.

5. Was the session different from what you expected it to be? I was a little nervous a few hours before my session because I had no idea what to expect… BUT IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I don’t think I’ve laughed or smiled so many times in four hours than during my session with Alyssa and her team.

6. What was your favorite part about the entire experience? I don’t think it’s possible to pick a favorite part about my experience with Alyssa. I absolutely loved the shoot and all the crazy poses she put me in, and I loved reviewing my photos and ordering products because neither one of us could sit still or stop shouting when my pictures showed up on her screen. It was an amazing day and it’s impossible to just pick one part of it to call my favorite.

7. How did you feel when you saw your photographs? I almost cried. Words cannot describe the way I felt when I saw myself in my photos. I had no idea I could look so sexy!

8. Any advice for women interested in their own boudoir session? It’s beyond nerve-wracking, I know, but remember to breathe, let loose and have fun. You’re in good hands with Alyssa! She brings out your sexuality in a classy way, and your photos will show you just how beautiful you are!

9. Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of the session? I almost cried when I saw my photos after the shoot. I think as women, we’re quick to judge ourselves on what we don’t like about our bodies — how our butt looks in that dress, the fact that one boob is always going to be bigger than the other, our stomach’s will never be as flat as we’d like them to be — but while I was looking through my photos I wasn’t thinking about any of those things. I saw just how beautiful I am and that there’s no reason to scrutinize the way I look. I walked out of there with more self-confidence than I’ve ever had and I’m so thankful I did this shoot.

10. How did you like working with Alyssa Michelle and her team? I LOVED working with Alyssa and her team! They are professional, they are all passionate about what they do, and they are HYSTERICAL! I had fun the entire time and I can’t wait to do it again!
